A Safe Haven

My new temporary atelier. That's your fish painting hanging out in the back.

The light is fantastic mostly because of the sky light. It opens for extra ventilation, but this little space also has a fan to suck out the air.

This is the main space, this is not for my use.

It's just a quick trip up the stairs.

All the necessary tools.

Back at the ranch, sneezer seems to have everything under control.

Apparently, from the look on Jack's face, this is an embarrassing photo.

Psychic Drawing Weekend

This weekend I worked for a Spiritual Fair for Nicky's Place in Haarlem. This is my table, the candle I carved and dressed with my Maya Birth Day Sign and Tone which is One Manik'. One is unity and Manik' or Deer is a very spiritual day. I worked from 12 to 6 trying not to read for over 20 minutes, but rarely succeeding. I had 7 readings each day and most of them went really well. A few were like pulling teeth but I feel no one person walked away completey dissatisfied.

This is David, I sat next to him. He was born in England and resides in Scotland. I had a reading last fair with him, it was nice.
He is also a medium and runs crystal and angel workshops. He will be back in September for the next fair.

This is John, a Scottish medium living in Den Haag, next to him his translator or wife who is Dutch. They were both very kind. We all sat by each other. We were the English speaking afdeling (department).

This is a long shot of the space. The woman in white did numerology. She is Dutch and was very kind and knowledgeable. Her name was Hetty and a favorite of mine. We spoke a bit about the mayan calendar.

What spritual fair wouldn't be complete without the Gem Stone Table. They had the most beautiful pieces of Moldavite I have ever seen. They were wrapped for wearing around the neck but the stones themselves were stunning.

These were my favorite parts and people of the weekend. It was great fun and I learned loads. I may have even inspired a few people. I will be back in September.

Sunday 15th of June, 2008 Tone 5 - Oc

Ho, Tone Five represents empowerment.

This tone tends toward intelligence and skillful organizational abilities. Network and gather exactly what's needed for projects and new ventures today, investigation is fruitful.

Ho is ruled by Tiacolteotl, the Aztec goddess of love and children

Oc (ahhk) or Dog is the 10th day sign bearing a fearless Northern energy.

Dogs have a strong sense of justice and loyalty with a fierce ability to protect. They are keen, alert team players but can just as easily take on a leadership role.

Team playing and cooperation empower anything you busy yourself with this Sunday. There is a playful energy so participation in group activities will be especially rewarding. A sense of duty or collaboration with others may take you away from a lazy sunday but you just may find out some useful information from those you come into contact with. Warm heartedness and playfulness rules the day regardless of the call of duty or participation in group activities.

...and now for something completely different

Spot the cool tree shadow

It was one of the top ten best spring days this year, possibly the last 10 years. The sun was warm, a slight cool breeze in the air, and NO humidity. Heaven. Just like the lemon taarts at vlaamsch brood huys.

This is my acquaintance and client Pam (dressed in black and white). She is working at our newly opened L'Occitane. I'm glad she is working there, it's nice to see a friendly face when shopping. I bought the Amendel shower oil. It does wonders for the skin.

They also have a new Riz or Rice face regimen. It is made with wonderful organic red rice in the Camargue. I am trying it out, my skin changes in the warmer temperatures. I will keep you posted.

Pluk is the new juice bar in town, don't forget a broodje. I love the idea of a juice bar finally hitting the mean streets of Haarlem, but I havent been able to cross the pepto-bismal pink just yet, im sure it will neutralize, the eyes just have to adjust. the price one must pay for pressed and/or blended fruit.

Among a slew of new winkels recently opened is Cook & co. The store is two floors of magnificent neat & clean with plenty of space to move and turn. It is stocked with everything a kitchen could possibly need and something for every price range. I definately liked it and someday I hope to purchase a few things.

I guess I havent been to enough cocktail parties lately because I didnt know about the prefab appetizer spoons. Depending on the taste this may be one of the cooler things i have seen, put a bit of fur around it and it's art!

And last but most definately not least, an explosion of color. Not that there's anything wrong with it...

Catch up

Since my last entry I had lunch with friends. This is Kayla. She thought this was the biggest crisp she had ever seen.
Who doesn't love a good argyle sweater?
This is Kayla's mother, Jenny. They both came into Haarlem from Delft for the day. We lunched and kayla got a pair of very silvery shiney shoes. I forgot to blog them. sorry.
It wasn't the best weather for an outing and when she dropped me off it turned really cold and began to snow.
Sneezer meditating in the sun.
I spent many days preparing a few new canvases and began the underpainting.
warm fish cold fish
I headed out to the art store to pick up a new brush or two for my new canvases. Along the way was an "antiek winkel". I guess you could call the Spice Girls antiques. Thats the three big headed dolls to the upper left of Mary the mother of Jesus.
Sunday I was escorted to the British Classic Cars and Life Style Beurs. This beauty was in the parking lot.
but this one is more my size
I received birthday greetings and my fav Salt and Vinegar Crisps all the way from Australia. Thanks Nic and Vance! the card was lovely as well.
On the same day I received birthday greetings from Ian in the midlands of England. He sent me a smokey quartz crystal to add to my growing collection.
I spent today in my atelier working and listening to Theatre of the Mind podcasts. While on a quick break I saw this funny sticker. When will those silly squirrels learn to park their horses properly.

Bigger, Better, Best?

On the way to a place called Best.
Jack catching the air coming from the vent just below him. He is learning how to behave himself in a car, which up until recently was an uphill battle. He really winds himself up.Nope, it's not a petting zoo.
Or Jurasic Park.
Just how old do you have to be to be sold as an antiek anyway?
Praying the big plastic rhino doesn't anger the ancient plastic dino.

Brilliant

Some really lovely buildings around my atelier. I am heading towards the shopping centrum to pick up some art supplies.
Enjoying the sights once I arrive.
Last saturday in an old street in Haarlems center a small fire in a "massage parlor" broke out. For some reason known only to rocket scientists, the helicopter was using infrared to see where if it was spreading decided to land in the small street. His propeller hit a lampost broke off and flew into another building so he jerked the helicopter upward but fell directly back to the ground as he noticed he couldn't fly without all of his propeller.

InnerSelf Cheers!

Thanks Vance for thinking of me. It is a fantastic paper. I have read most of it, and there was some very pertinent information for me. Cheers to you both!
Finally some roses that smell like roses. The fragrance is unbelievable.
Catherine is lovely, but sneezer takes the cake. I could be a bit partial though...
