Attempting Amsterdam, Better Belgium

Hi jerry, I attempted amsterdam saturday afternoon with alex. Needless to say it didnt go over that well, with him or me, for different reasons. Still I thought you might like to see Tjins is still busy as ever, as is our little cafe. I walked past it a half hour before and couldnt find a place to sit so we had to have a cup of joe on the corner. Krull, the place we never sat at but always wondered. Wonder no more, it was dirty and clueless.
Some paper out there just named Amsterdam the hippest city?! (it was either the ny times or de telegraph) tee hee

The weather is still warm enough for ijs! that says a lot here. Usually they are packed up and headed south by now. Again I thought you might like to know that scarves are alive and well in Holland, even in warm weather.

The Frood. Fruit is food too! I guess thats a new discovery...

So why not try our luck in Belgium. This is the following day. brilliant weather and the city was open. Antwerp proved to be a lovely day out. However we werent the only ones out and every seat on a terrace was taken. Nevertheless, facilities were needed so we decided to stop into this lovely gem. It was tiny but cool. we drank a Rodenbach, yummyo, and headed out into the sunlight.

I dont know what happened in this city but the statue is holding up a severed hand! Openly brutal, the Belgians.

Luckily the Virgin Mary is around just about every corner. Now I know why!

Sunday 22nd of June, 2008 Tone 12 - Caban

La Ka Tone Twelve

understanding and communication

Aztec god of the morning star who rules the just before dawn.

Caban, Earth is an introspective energy

powerful creativity and insight into ancient wisdom

Tone 12 La Ka in combination with Caban, Earth or Earthquake, seems to be an internal, cerebral time.

Twelve has a vibration of understanding and communication, while Caban is deeply introspective. Thought process and all it's elements are intellectualized to bring certain ideas that may be scattered into a cohesive whole, for the betterment of existing structures. It is a good time to change bad habits or to offer your help to someone who may be trying to.

Do watch out for a bad temper, sensitivities can run high!

As we move along the calendar we notice our perspective becomes wider, enabling a broader understanding, creating deep resonance with the earth and her forces to serve the whole.

It was Gemma's birthday today and she invited me to lunch with her and her boys. Afterwards I walked past the Grote Markt and came upon the Haarlem Cultuur podium beside the Grote Kerk. Normally on Saturday it is a busy market. There were young dancers on the podium. I believe it was young turkish girls in traditional dress doing a traditional dance.

While snapping the above photo I felt something hit the side of my leg and when I looked down I saw this little cherub. cute kid.

Further along the Grote Houtstraat, the main shopping drag, a very decent band was playing. They were really good actually and had a pretty full sound with just the two of them.

I have no idea if this is a real instrument or one he fashioned himself but it sounded amazing.

This is from the funny felt store called Jannson i believe. It is a bag made of aluminium can tops. It's shiney.

What Vance wants, Vance gets

Jack and his favorite new bear dreaming about a warm spring day.

Possibly resembling something like this.

or this.

rekel being groomed by a fairy.

We took the cbx to Delft for a party. It was Jenny's birthday.

Delft has bridges for every class. This is for the upper class.

the middle class

and the poor bastards.

The gemente building, every good center has one.

Delft is the city of churches, how many can you count in this photo?

they also have several angles. it is a city of angles

Delft has people. People who enjoy sitting out in front of their homes or other peoples homes watching the traffic pass and drinking rose. Actually this is part of the the birthday party.

here is the other half.

here is a little boy in a brightly colored tunic.

But mostly Delft has beautiful flowers meticulously poised in window boxes and some that wildly climb the walls.

while others find a quiet peaceful place to sit.

Enkhuizen

Some very ornate buildings.
A very small part of the marina. In the 17th century it was a very important harbor for the Dutch east indies trade.
Eventually it lost out to Amsterdam. There is a lot of tourism.
Someone turned the lights on.
The 17th Century tower Drommedaris I believe. If it isn't don't yell at me.

Brilliant

Some really lovely buildings around my atelier. I am heading towards the shopping centrum to pick up some art supplies.
Enjoying the sights once I arrive.
Last saturday in an old street in Haarlems center a small fire in a "massage parlor" broke out. For some reason known only to rocket scientists, the helicopter was using infrared to see where if it was spreading decided to land in the small street. His propeller hit a lampost broke off and flew into another building so he jerked the helicopter upward but fell directly back to the ground as he noticed he couldn't fly without all of his propeller.

Sugar City

These twin buildings used to be sugar silos and they turned them into really fun buildings. Of course there will be office space and a mega cinema. I really like them and they sparkle in the sun! They are located in Halfweg, just outside of Haarlem.
More signs of an early spring. It was fantastic weather today and the daffodils obviously agreed.
Since my flu I have been craving tomato juice like mad. I drink it all the time. I know it's chock full of vitamin C. I have always been crazy for tomatoes, but my craving is a bit out of hand. I can drink one pack a day, easy.

Ode to the solar eclipse

Stone du jour is the Sunshine Aura crystal. Made in a lab artificially bonded with gold and platinum. It still has a place in the Crystal Bible so I think it's legit.
It is a powerful stone that activates the solar plexus. It helps to release old emotional trauma. It also relieves constipation on all levels and releases toxins. And it's pretty too!
Instead of a crucifix, many Dutch churches have a rooster atop the steeple. What's up with that Vance?
I did a house blessing today for a friend and her new pad. So I made her a house blessing candle.

Nuts and Bolts

The neighborhood behind my atelier is beautiful. This building has been derelict for years and if i had the funds I would restore it and move in immediately.
A short walk across the small gracht and you are in the center with interesting streets. This is one thing that attracted me to holland, I suppose.
Enjoy!
While shopping for vitamins I nipped into this arts and crafts store for a drawing pad. In the window was a small village and all the villagers were made of felt. creepy
This fine block of metal sculpture is held together by nuts and bolts, or is it? It may be a bit difficult to see with the reflections on the window and the whole time space continuum thing.
